I am serving the Lord Jesus Christ as a Literacy Worker in conjunction with Bible translation in Burkina Faso, West Africa, supported through Wycliffe Bible Translators. |
Wycliffe Bible Translators sends people all over the world to work with minority language groups to translate God's Word into their language." There are over 6,000 languages worldwide and only about half are written. I am working with another woman in SW Burkina Faso with the southern dialect of the Toussian language.
As a single woman, I was working in the neighboring country of Benin when I met Wilhelm Pleis, also sent out by Wycliffe. We were married in August 2000. We then joined his project with the Toussian people in Burkina Faso. Wilhelm passed away in October 2003 from cancer. I will continue our work in Burkina Faso, joined by Margaret Langdon
. She will be heading up translation and I will be working in literacy.
Here is a map of Burkina Faso
and it's location in Africa.
