Trudi preparing breakfast in the kitchen
Burkina Faso is known for the Baobab tree and this is the one on our center |
(Note: we hope to keep this page fairly up-to-date with news of our work. Unfortunately, internet connections are on occasion hard to come by in Africa. So, please check frequently.)
Despite all our adventures we have made it to Burkina Faso. Weather? HOT! Here are some pictures of life here.
This is the house we rent with 2 others in the capital city of
Ouagadougou, pronounced Wagadoogoo. Here you see Wilhlem and his
"friends".
Andre had washed the clothes and now it's time to iron. He
also does cleaning and at the moment is filling in for the guard.
The front gate as seen from the inside, as you can see it
did rain one day! We hope that continues!
Philomene is hard at work at the reception desk. The
tapestry on the wall is typical of some local art done here. In this
building is where the administrative work goes on.
The dinning hall or Refectoire as it is called here
is where we have noon meals from time to time and where meals are
served during the many workshops and conferences that are held here.
We should be leaving any day for the village to get set up there. We are thinking of waiting until July to go Benin to get Trudi's things from there. Trudi has already met the Literacy Coordinator and attended a bilingual teachers collage closing ceremony which was televised. One week in the country and she's already been on TV! What next?! Wait and find out! |
