Toussian Churches

"Mission churches" have recently sprung up from the main Protestant church in Toussiana! The first church is in Sanglayon, where through prayer, a woman was spared from the effects of a snake bite and about 30 people became Christians. Sanglayon

These new believers met for quite a while before a pastor was sent. Sanglayon is about 10 miles northeast of Toussiana.   People singing   After several years of waiting, a pastor responded and came to the village and not long after, a building was started.
Sanglayon group   Today, there are about seventy-five people who attend services. Service

Tapogo is about 10 miles northwest of Toussiana. Several pastors have tried to evangelize the area for the last 10 years with little success. In the last couple of years, a group of believers has begun to meet there.   Tapogo   As you can see, the group is still very small and they do not have their permanent building. They hope to start making the bricks to start building this dry season (Feb.-May).

Just to the east of Toussiana is a large cliff.   Falaise   At the bottom of the cliff is a village called “bottom of the cliff”.
These people have climbed this cliff to go to church in Toussiana since the church there was started 17 years ago. One of our translators, Joseph, comes from this village.   Joe
In the last year, a church building was started. Funding came in for the roof, so that was done first.   Falaise roof   Now the walls are finished. We recently visited there where we heard a sermon preached in Toussian.

bas de falaise   So often we hear messages preached in the local trade language of Jula rather than Toussian.

Every year there is a women’s day at the church. Each of us missionary ladies has had our turn at preaching, as have many of the Toussian ladies. This last September, Margaret had her turn. Awa and Margaret   The church has several choirs and groups. These girls sing a special song almost every Sunday. Group singing

Pray with us that these churches would grow in numbers as well as in spiritual maturity.
